EXCELLENT Based on 343 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Katia LVerified So Much Fun! Highly recommend this awesome adventure! Very well organized with a super guide- Toby. Didn’t realize the white water was going to be such a thrill- but the Fundy Bay did not disappoint. Loads of fun for the whole family! Appreciated the hot showers at the end and yes- you will get wet!Posted on Tripadvisor CherVTVerified Bucket list experience We didn't even realize this was on our bucket list but just checked it off. Unique, authentic, educational and most of all fun! Sliding in the mud in your 60's makes you feel like a kid again. Outrunning the tide as it came in to get back to the boat was an experience. The rapids were exciting. We were fortunate to have a picture perfect October day. Our guide Toby was knowledgeable and entertaining. This was an unforgettable day for all of us. Thanks Toby and Emmet!Oh and of course the hot showers were much appreciated at the end👍👍👍👍Posted on Tripadvisor Joe MVerified Don't miss this This is an amazing adventure, not to be missed. Toby was our guide. Can't say enough about this.... soooo much Fun! If you do nothing else in NS ... DO THIS!Posted on Tripadvisor Alana NVerified Best outdoor experience in NS River Wranglers is hands down one of the best outdoor experiences in Nova Scotia! This was our second year bringing our team for a staff appreciation day, and it was a huge success once again. The adventure was informative, thrilling, and delightfully messy! Special shoutout to our guide, Carly, who made sure our boat had the best ride of the season. She brought an extra dose of fun and excitement, ensuring that everyone had an unforgettable time. Highly recommend this experience for any group looking for a unique and exhilarating day out!Posted on Tripadvisor Vic PVerified Thrill a minute This was an amazing experience. We had Wilson as our guide and he was fantastic. The rafting was truelly a thrill but jumping out the zodiac and floating down the river was even more exhilarating. The only negative comment I can make is that there was bossy lady who would not let my wife and grandson sit on the benches near the washrooms when nobody was even using them. Such unreasonable behaviour detracted from the overall experience.Posted on Tripadvisor Vacation568241Verified Great memories We had a blast! Our guide, Sasha, was an expert at manoeuvring the water and engaging everyone in the zodiac. Great memories, I would definitely recommend and do it again.Posted on Tripadvisor C.a WVerified Family experience We went to nova scotia for a family vacation and someone recommended the Shubie wranglers. We were glad we did it. It was awesome. The ages of our group were 13-72. It is worth the experience. Take old clothes and they have shoes you can use so your good shoes do not get ruined. The kids did the sliding in the mud which was one of the highlights of the excursion. Our driver was Carley. She interacted with us the whole time. She took the time to point out the bald eagles flying over us. I'm 68 and I was a little apprehensive but take my word I would do it again.Posted on Tripadvisor April NVerified Great day riding the waves We had so much fun, extreme tides, big warm waves, and fun in the mud! Miles was our guide and he was fantastic, professional, knowledgeable, and fun. Can’t wait to go again.Posted on Tripadvisor Cherie OVerified Such a blast! Wet and muddy, huge waves and warm water. This was our second year in a row and we'll be back again next year. The only place in the WORLD where you can do this. It's amazing. The water is warm...be prepared to get soaked. The mud is slippery and you WILL get muddy, even if you don't do the mud slide 😆 wear shoes that are tight on your feet or you'll lose them in the knee-deep mud😬Carley Rieksts was a great guide. She explained everything and made the trip a memorable experience.Posted on Tripadvisor Lisa DVerified Who knew playing in the mud could be so much fun! Amazing adventure! From the minute we arrived, we felt safe, and knew that we were in for a great time! The ‘old lady at the top of hill’ (her words!) was hysterical! The staff outfitted us in jackets and life jackets and provided a review of what was to come. We were fortunate to get assigned to the best guide ever - Ella was her name and she ROCKED it! After the trip, hot showers were available! This is a great adventure, I hope I have the opportunity to do it again!

Everything is nice ....must visit placePosted on Google Bjanders 43Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Definitely the highlight of our trip here. went during extreme tide and it did not disappoint! Our tour guide was miles and he had a nose for finding the biggest waves. Took the 4 hour tour and it was worth every minute, we'll be back for more!Posted on Google Ali BellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I had more appendages I would give this three thumbs up. We had a great time on our first tidal bore rafting adventure at regular tide. The extreme tide experience we had today was next level though. Miles drove us into wall after wall of water and managed to return to shore with the same number of passengers as he started with. Part eagle-whisperer too clearly as we saw more bald eagles in one hour than most people see in a lifetime. Somewhere between screaming with laughter and inhaling the Bay of Fundy I realised this was the best fun I had ever had since, well, the last time I was rafting with Shubie River Wrangkers. Top notch.Posted on Google Brandon MacKayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Miles and the whole crew made it a wonderful first time and definitely not our last experience enjoying the tidal bore waves.Posted on Google Kerry MacKayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff team, and just overall an ecstatic experience once in a lifetime experience would recommend the wranglers!Posted on Google Alix TherrienTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Everything that could go wrong did : I shattered my leg mud sliding (shit happens, wasn't anyone's fault), then we were stuck for an hour and a half waiting for the tide to be able to head back, then the motor died so we had to wait for another boat to come tow us. What was supposed to be the last day of my vacation in Nova Scotia prolonged it for a good while : I can't drive back to QC for 6 weeks. Lucas and his team handled all of this very professionally and did the best they could out of a terrible situation. I didn't panic, thanks to Lucas who kept his cool throughout the whole ordeal. I'm only sad I didn't get to ride the tidal bore and had to watch from the sidelines while everyone had fun, as it had been on my bucket list for nearly 20 years. But at least I got a good story out of it!

Never rafted before? You’re in good company — most of our guests haven’t either. It’s four simple steps and a few hours you’ll never forget.
Meet us at our site in Green Oaks. We’ll set you up with a wetsuit, booties, splash jacket, and helmet.
Your river master walks you through the day and what to expect. No experience needed.
Ride the incoming Bay of Fundy tide as it surges up the Shubenacadie and builds wave after wave.
Finish with a mud slide on the river bank, then warm up and swap stories.
The bald eagles on the Shubenacadie river are a huge part in helping us deliver such great tours every day, so it was nice to be able to help one out when it needed a hand. Our close encounter only added to the enormous amount of respect we already had for these incredible birds.
What started as a normal day turned into a wild and unique Shubenacadie experience. We were out rafting when we came across an injured eagle on the sandbar. After seeing this eagle struggle to take off from the sandbar we knew something was wrong. After several failed attempts to fly off the sand bar, the eagle found himself caught in the incoming tide and quickly swept away by the tidal bore.
We watched and tried to position ourselves down the river and close enough to the eagle to lend a hand however we could. Despite continuing to struggle and encountering some quite large waves, it was able to maintain its upright posture.
Now, we had a strong sense that the eagle had sustained a severe injury that prevented him from taking flight. We managed to get him into the boat safely and we did our best to keep him at ease as we travelled back to our rafting location.
Once we arrived back to our site @hopeforwildlife arrived to take the eagle and provide him with the care he required. The eagle recovered completely from its injuries and was eventually released to its natural environment.

Here are the questions first-timers always ask us — and the honest answers that usually calm everyone down.
We pick up the phone. Call us with anything — group bookings, dietary needs, accessibility, weather worries — and we’ll help.
We have rafters of all ages! Rafters must be at least 6 years old and, importantly, must fit safely in a life jacket. Adults must accompany any children under the age of 16. Our child rate applies to ages 12 and under.
Rafting always carries the inherent risk of Mother Nature and moving water. That’s why we train our guides to maneuver the river safely and confidently, always with your wellbeing in mind. Our clients’ safety is our top priority and something we never take lightly — we want everyone to feel comfortable out on the river with us.
The Shubenacadie is known for its waves — and its mud! Dress for the weather and wear clothes and footwear you don’t mind getting dirty, as the river mud tends to stain. If you get cold easily, bring a hoodie or an extra layer. Bring a spare change of clothes and a towel for the showers after your trip. Every rafter is given a life jacket that must be worn at all times on the water. Rain gear is available on colder days, though it won’t keep you dry once the waves hit!
Our Zodiacs carry a maximum of 8 passengers — plus one awesome guide!
Tidal bore rafting only happens on Nova Scotia’s Shubenacadie River, where the incoming Bay of Fundy tide creates a powerful wave that travels upstream against the current. White water rafting runs downstream through rapids formed by rocks. Because the tidal bore rides over sandbars rather than sharp rocks, it’s done safely without a helmet, and the waves are typically much larger — during extreme tides they can reach 12–15 feet.
All cancellations require written notice to shubiewranglers@gmail.com and are subject to a $5 per person fee. We require 72 hours’ notice; cancellations after that are charged 50% of the invoice, and cancellations within 24 hours (or no-shows) are charged in full. Large groups of 8+ must give at least one week’s notice. Reschedules within the cancellation window are charged the same, but the amount is applied as credit toward your new date.
We’re at 90 Phillips Rd, Green Oaks, Nova Scotia — about 45 minutes from Halifax. If you’d just like to watch, our lodge deck and the lower section of our property offer tidal bore viewing, and the Tidal Interpretive Centre across the river is only a one-minute drive.
We pick up the phone. Call us with anything — group bookings, dietary needs, accessibility, weather worries — and we’ll help.
Stories, tide-planning tips, and first-timer prep — written by the guides who ride this wave every day. A five-minute read can make a four-hour trip twice as fun.
