Our Rafting Story

Tidal bore rafting has been a real Nova Scotian experience since the first outfitter opened in the late 1980s.

The Shubenacadie is one of the largest rivers in Nova Scotia! It receives its great waves from the incoming tide of the Bay of Fundy clashing with the natural out going currents.

Tidal bore rafting is a different adventure compared to the whitewater rafting rivers many had experienced in other provinces. As tidal bore rafting grew in popularity more outfits popped up along the river to match demand.

How does the shubie compare to other world Rivers?

Many people wonder how the Shubenacadie River compares to other famous river systems. The Shubie differs from rivers in the United States, and the continents of South America and Africa. Rivers such as the Congo river, the Amazon river, and the Mississippi river do not have a tidal bore. The tidal bore is what sets the Shubenacadie apart and makes it so unique.

While other rivers may be longer, they usually do not have the same strong tides. They also lack the rafting experiences found on the Shubenacadie. The Shubie also has easy to access observation decks, and visible river flows from a variety of perspectives
